If you will be staying in Florida temporarily, you may be able to keep your vehicle insured in the state of New York.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles if you have a vehicle in the state of Florida for more than ninety days you need to buy personal injury protection and property damage liability coverage. So if you are a college student who will be attending school in Miami Florida, you will need to have these coverages.
